It’s one of those rare Monday posts, because last night I witnessed the most marvelous thing: the Mars Science Laboratory (“Curiosity”), a rover the size of a Mini Cooper, successfully landing on Mars in a descent sequence that could have come from a James Bond movie. (Two words: SKY CRANE.) Here are the first two images sent back to Earth, showing Curiosity’s wheel (above), and her shadow (below) on the surface of Mars. What a feat!
